Artist statement:

“My main medium is watercolor.  I love bringing living items into my art, such as birds. I love making them come alive, trying to capture a lot of texture on my paper. Watercolor has its own mind sometimes; it’s fun trying to move it towards what I’m looking for.”  Lieta Gratteri

Along the north coast shoreline of the Pacific Ocean in Oregon it is thrilling to see pelicans, great blue herons, and great egrets year-round.

More about the artist:

Lieta Gratteri has been working with watercolor since 2010 when she started out by taking a weekly class. She has ventured out by taking workshops from some local and nationally ranked instructors. She has found her style after being determined, and living in the Northwest on a wetland area has inspired her love of birds, nature and landscapes.

Lieta also has run a seasonal garden center for 26 years which only adds to the beauty for more painting ideas. There is no right or wrong in flowers and foliage, it’s so forgiving! The best therapy is being in the outdoors with nature, life is good!
