**What is a Western Gull, you ask?
Did you know that there’s no such thing as a Seagull? Say what!? Yep, there are actually many different species of gulls that live near the sea… 28 types in North America to be precise, and not one of them is named Seagull.
The birds that we often call Seagulls here on the Oregon coast are in fact called Western Gulls. Endemic to the Pacific Northwest coast, it might be hard to imagine, but Western Gulls have the smallest population of any of the North American Gulls.
