**What is a Western Gull, you ask?

Did you know that there’s no such thing as a Seagull? Say what!? Yep, there are actually many different species of gulls that live near the sea… 28 types in North America to be precise, and not one of them is named Seagull.

The birds that we often call Seagulls here on the Oregon coast are in fact called Western Gulls. Endemic to the Pacific Northwest coast, it might be hard to imagine, but Western Gulls have the smallest population of any of the North American Gulls. They also have another unique quality: they’re the only gull that nests along the rocky coastline, rather than in estuaries.- – Seaside Aquarium article Aug/2020

How are the masks made, you ask?

Each mask is constructed of with one layer of heavyweight “quilters cotton” with a thread count of at least 180, and has certified  Bamboo cotton liner. Each mask takes one hour to make and all the seams are double stitched.

THE POWER OF MASKS:

At long last, we have made a truly game-changing scientific breakthrough in preventing the spread of COVID-19. The impact of this breakthrough seems almost too good to be true.

We have found a disease control tool that when used properly, can dramatically reduce the person-to-person transmission of COVID-19. Studies have shown that this tool could reduce transmission by 50%  to 85%. It has no significant side effects. And with each passing day, the scientific research showing the tool’s effectiveness gets stronger. -Gavin Yamey/June 2020

“I have chosen to donate a mask for every one purchased.” BF

Indeed, the local textile artist has donated masks to the staff at ACE Hardware, to the staff at Seaside Coffee House, to the staff at Fairweather’s, and many more staff members in our business neighborhood and hometown. Truly, it is now a beloved community-wide “Doing Good Works” platform!
