I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1966 with a Bachelors of Architecture. Upon graduation I moved to Portland, OR, where I did my architectural internship for three years before I received my Architect’s license. Then I received a Ford Foundation Fellowship. While on this study I lived and studied in Washington D.C., New York City & Boston where I studied painting.” TC
After the fellowship I returned to Portland and established my architectural firm. Twenty years ago, as the computers took over my architectural practice I experienced what I called “graphite withdrawal.” It was a major change from sketching eight hours a day to moving only a mouse. I felt I needed to express my artistic skills and began to paint in earnest.” TC
I have since I retired and now paint full time. The transition from architecture has been easy because of my knowledge of design and composition.
I serve as Oregon State Ambassador and Active Member of the Oregon Society of Artists. TC
I have a studio in Seaside where I paint impasto oils. In addition, since retirement, from the architectural field, I have become involved in the local affairs of neighborhood safety and liveability.
Frequently, I paint during the Fairweather Gallery after-hours events during the winter months. Tedd Chilless, N.W. artist
