Artist Jan Rimerman drew inspiration from Schreiner’s garden for her Botanical Collection.

The painting style is reminiscent of the art nouveau around the 1920s.

Jan Rimerman’s botanical watercolor series is to celebrate gardens and the joy that nature reveals to us.

Each piece begins with a powdered charcoal underpainting with an ink drawing. Transparent fluid acrylics are painted on top in many layers to create luminescence and dimension.

This selection of paintings are “Clever” due to the painting technique and unexpected textures found in the petals and background.”  Jan Rimerman

Rimerman-Botanical Collection: Clever

The details in the patterned stripes in the poppy petals, the treatment of the negative space in the alliums’ firecracker energy and the gem like centers of the poppies are the “clever” part coming directly from the artist. There is careful consideration in designing the compositions to give a focal
point for the viewer. The movement and rhythm within each piece encourages a circular manner allowing the adventure to hold surprises and quiet nuances.
