For ICONIC! Melissa Jander in June!

Seaside Moment original oil by Melissa Jander.

Hi there Fairweather friends,

I will be sending you new original  for the June  ICONIC show! I’m really excited about these pieces, and I’m experiencing a synthesis of painting process and development of a distinct voice. — Melissa Jander

The result is a looser style of oil painting with influences of impressionistic color, but leaning more towards post-impressionism, in the style of Edouard Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard, Louis Valtat, and maybe even influences of Cezanne and Matisse. I’m using color to convey mood, and energetic brushwork to communicate liveliness and freshness.

The goal is to describe enough of a scene that invites the viewer to join in and complete the story. This style of painting keeps me interested and wanting to do another, and another.

One of my art teachers explained that as artists today, we are dwarves standing on the shoulders of giants. Thankfully those “giants” in art from the past have given contemporary artists a spark of inspiration with which to continue our own creative journeys today. Thank you for the opportunity to show in your beautiful space once again. Seaside, here we come!-Melissa Jander

The artwork will be revealed next November. It’s a huge honor and a great privilege to be able to celebrate the hardworking tulip growers with a painting which will be put on posters, wine bottles, chocolates, clothing and many other items. Thank you for all of your support and encouragement, and for everything you do for us artists!”
