“I work out of my studio at home and have a huge group of art and gardening friends that bring so much joy to my life. I am a resident artist of Fairweather Gallery in Seaside and a member of the Oregon Society of Artists.”  Lieta Gratteri

Lieta’s trips to the nurseries in the area are her playground, and her garden tips are shared with her many gardening friends. Truly, Lieta wants everyone to have fun in their garden and succeed with everything growing. Surely, being immersed in nature relaxes her mind. Indeed, this month, Lieta offered the advice of removing winter foliage on the Lenten roses (hellebores) in order to allow plants to direct their energy into creating more blooms.

Just in. Spring, 2023 lampwork bead earrings by Michelle Shigemasa.

Featuring  posts and  fobs with hypo-allergic materials

Wow, I have found a few vintage lucite lampwork beads to include in the Fairweather Gallery’s up-coming STEPPING FORWARD exhibition.  So excited!”  Michelle

A lampwork artist works magic with glass and extreme heat. Lampworking relies on rolling and twirling glass on a mandrel to achieve the desired shape.

One of my favorite teachers in high school was Mrs. Shig (MIchelle Shigemasa); she made the class engaging. One phrase I will never forget and still use in my classroom today is the phrase “vocab restate.” A simple way to look forward to more advanced vocabulary.”  D. Kim, former student
