Introducing a new series of small bowls inspired by Sea Corals. They are created
from powdered glass. Bob Heath, a glass artist, arranged different colors of glass
powder to create a thick disk, then hand-carved patterns into the powder
to create the coral design. When the glass powder is heated in a kiln,
it fuses to form a solid sheet of glass, but the pattern carved
in the powder causes holes and slots to form. The artist then adds more
layers of glass powder to each side and refires the disk in a kiln until
he is satisfied with the coloration on both sides. The disk is slumped
into a bowl shape in a final kiln firing to create the finished piece.
When these bowls are displayed with a light source above them, they form
fascinating shadow patterns under the bowl.

Bob Heath has immersed himself in the enchanting world of glass for over twenty years. He passionately crafts masterpieces that show his deep love for the medium. He collaborates with some of the most revered artists in the Art Glass realm. He further demonstrated his dedication through his decade-long service on the board of directors of the Oregon Glass Guild. He proudly served as president for two terms.
In 2014, he achieved a remarkable milestone. He was a finalist in the esteemed Bullseye Emerge Glass Competition. This is a prestigious international event. It celebrates the brilliance of glass artists. Bob’s breathtaking artwork graces private collections across the US. His work shows meticulous attention to detail. His profound passion for the art of glass is clear. He credits a 35-year engineering career for this. It fuels his creativity and vision.

” I really like the shadows they cast when lit
