August 3-25 Exhibition

OUTSIDE INTERESTS featuring local painters and artisans hugely impressed with the wide-open, majestic vistas of the Pacific Northwest.  Selected art, new original work, conveys nature’s shifting moods, with no human presence visible.   Artists include Paul Brent, Melissa Jander, Sharon Kathleen Johnson, Bev Drew Kindley, Gretha Lindwood, and Ron Nicolaides.

“Award-winning artist Melissa Jander brings together the elements of color, composition and expressive brushwork to create beautiful paintings of everyday life. She enjoys orchestrating these elements in such a way that invites the viewer to fill in the rest of the story, perhaps stir a memory, a feeling, or the imagination. Melissa’s newest paintings contribute her own “Outside Interests” of gardening, books, beautiful northwest views, and collecting sentimental objects.”
Welcoming new artists oil painter Vicky Combs-Snider and glass artist Christine Downs to the gallery.

Melissa’s beautiful paintings feature flowers grown on her Camano Island garden.  She has a unique synthesis of Post-Impressionist style art seen in the work of Van Gogh, Cezanne and Bonnard. Originating in France, the Post-Impressionist movement sought to expand the horizons of Impressionism, further exploring distortion of form and richness of color. Melissa harnesses this freedom of expression in the energetic art she creates.”

Q: Where in in the world is Camano Island, you ask?

A: Camano Island is a large island in the Puget Sound, located in Island County, Washington, between Whidbey Island and the mainland.

“If you have a yearning to experience the beautiful Oregon Coast in the summertime, visit Seaside. The art galleries of Seaside, all within walking distance, offer a delightful Art Walk on the first Saturday of each month. The galleries are located in the historic Gilbert District and there are several wonderful restaurants and cafes for your enjoyment.”  Melissa Jander

And, too a shout out for the arts.

Melissa Jander will have an exhibition on September 12-October 12 at the Mary Williams Fine Arts in Boulder, CO.  It is the Women Artist of the West 49th Annual Show “Mountain Aire.”

“It’s a huge honor to be selected among this group of talented artists.” Melissa Jander
