Using a unique approach, Agnes Field applies multiple plaster, sand, and marble dust layers to create a smooth, textured surface that adds richness and depth to her work.
AGNES FIELD The Astoria-based artist uses a “matter-of-fact approach to painting and making objects by improvising and reusing found materials along with the paint to amplify the intended meaning.” Field has a Master’s Degree in Studio Fine Art from New York University and served as president of the non-profit Astoria Visual Arts and Visual Arts Curator @KALA exhibition space and has been included in many juried exhibits and residencies. Agnes Field has gained recognition for her remarkable fresco paintings.

Like many other glass artists, my journey began over 45 years ago with stained glass. Countless suncatchers later my interest was drawn to the “newer” technique of glass fusing. I find myself still deeply involved in that art form. I continue to enjoy exploring new ideas and techniques and sharing the knowledge I have gained with a loyal group of students at my fully equipped studio in Oregon. –JCW

Robin Monterohas been making art all her life and, as a former professional theater costume designer, knows how to work with fabric. For Fairweather’s OFF THE WALL August exhibition, she created a heartfelt one-of-a-kind mermaid lamp, hand-working double silk layers of the shade, hand-beading, and an embellished vintage transfer design. The three-dimensional theme presented challenges, and she developed her unique technique,

Introducing the Abstract Owl series by Helvi Smith at Fairweather Gallery.
Just like in real life. Their ears don’t sit evenly on their heads. One is often noticeably larger than the other.
Why, so, you ask? This is so each ear can hear a different area and thus help owls sort and identify sounds more easily.
It began innocently enough. The Crayola box with 8 colors soon advanced to the 16 pack then the 24 and then the box with 64 colors with the built in sharpener. There was no going back.
When folks lay their eyes on my works, they can’t help but bask in the pure bliss that radiates from each stroke of my brush. It’s almost like my paintings are little happiness factories, spreading joy like a mischievous art wizard. Trust me, you won’t be able to resist grinning like a Cheshire cat when you feast your peepers on my creations!
I prefer to march to the beat of my own paintbrush. It’s like a wild rollercoaster ride of creativity, and by golly, it’s FUN!
Oh boy, hold onto your hats because I’ve got a wild art adventure to share with you! So, picture this: I stumble upon a denim sofa, right? And in a moment of sheer genius (or madness maybe), I convince myself that I can PAINT that sofa. It turned out to be a stroke of artistic brilliance! Who knew denim could be such a masterpiece canvas? There you have it, my fearless artistic escapade wrapped in a humorous coating just for you. Enjoy the chuckles!
My work table is like a fashionista’s runway, constantly changing its “canvas couture” every 2 years. It’s like a never-ending cycle of redecorating, making sure my workspace remains fabulously fresh!
