Fairweather House and Gallery, 612 Broadway St. Opening reception for LUSH, the exhibition is featuring N.W. artists Toni Avery, oil painter Emily Shultz-McNeil, watercolorist Mary Lyn Gough, and encaustic artist Peg Wells. Introducing vintage textile artist Jessica Stokes. Artist talks at 5: 30 p.m. Neal Maine, naturalist, biologist, and photographer, lectures at 6 p.m.

New 2022 arrivals from Charles Schweigert, mixed media sculpture artist.

These pieces are made entirely of bamboo and waxed linen, and although they suggest basket shapes, they are more sculptural than functional. The bamboo is bent using heat, interwoven, and secured using waxed linen knots. The shapes are inspired by traditional Japanese baskets, which use humble materials to suggest movement and energy associated with natural forces in the environment.
